Dr. Annamaria Pinter (Professor, University of Warwick, UK)
Topic: Engaging children in classroom-based research
This talk is loosely based on Dr. Pinter’s recent book entitled Engaging Children in Applied Linguistics Research (Winner of BAAL Book Prize, 2024). In this book, Dr. Pinter promotes the idea that all children of all ages can be involved in research projects alongside adults in an active way. First, Dr. Pinter justifies and explains this stance based on a range of ethical, educational and political arguments and then focuses on the practicalities of working in this way with younger children (preschool and early elementary school ages) in particular, using a brief illustrative example.
